BT Sport tap into Monterosa / Interaction Cloud™ to engage fans of the Beautiful Game

As a broadcaster that depends heavily on live sport, the impact of lockdown challenged BT Sport to think more creatively, utilising their access to talent and archive content to engage their subscriber-base. The Monterosa platform and existing product set enabled BT Sport to move quickly to bring a new interactive experience to life.

Running on Monterosa / Interaction Cloud™, the leading Audience Interaction Platform, our interactive quiz solution synchronises with live video to deliver consistent, high-performing gameplay, points scoring and live leaderboards to huge audiences.

The new quiz format idea was originally discussed at the start of May and went live to a viewing audience on 14th May 2020. Hosted by James Richardson, ‘The Beautiful Quiz’ airs each Thursday evening on the BT Sport website and invites guests (including Robin van Persie, Peter Crouch and Steve Sidwell) to progress through six rounds of multiple-choice and freetype answer questions, competing against the audience at home for top spot on the leaderboard and that week’s bragging rights.

Jamie Hindhaugh, Chief Operating Officer, BT Sport, was delighted with the new series: “The Beautiful Quiz¸ is the right programme at the right time, enabling all sports fans to come together and test their football knowledge and compete against the likes of Peter Crouch and Chris Sutton. The show is just the latest in our team’s stream of highly innovative work during the pandemic to entertain and serve our viewers.
